BASIC FUNCTION: Position responsible for supervising the activities of the special procedure department as well as administer radiological diagnostic examinations and ability to perform in other complex modalities. Serves as a Preceptor, mentor, and resource to staff as well as assists Management with supervisory responsibilities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Graduate of an approved School of Radiological Technology.
2. Registered Radiological Technologist by the American Registry of Radiological Technologist and Licensed by the Texas Department of Health.
3. Minimum of 2 years experience as a Special Procedures Technologist II.
4. Demonstrates commitment to the Partners-in-Caring process by integrating both Behaviors and Operating Principles in all internal and external customer interactions. Performs duties with accountability, competency, innovation, collaboration, compassion and respect to create the best possible outcomes with exceptional customer experiences.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
1. Prepares patients for radiological exam, explains procedure and ensures technical quality.
2. Demonstrates ability to perform diagnostic radiological examinations in other complex modalities.
3. Organizes daily work for technologists/dept.
4. Reviews incomplete exam list and unsigned report status routinely.
5. Reports any accidents, complaints or equipment malfunction to the Supervisor/Manager.
6. Ensures safe care to patients adhering to policies, procedures, and standards, within budgetary specifications, including time management, supply management, productivity, and accuracy of practice.
7. Participates in P.I. activities established by Imaging Services.
8. Takes emergency calls within the department.
9. Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education, skills competency, supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization serves as a preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff/students.
10. Performs other related duties as directed.

Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the patient served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development as it relates to the different life cycles.
