Oversees the functions in the Radiation Oncology Department, ensuring established policies and procedures are followed

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

Participates with Vantage Oncology management, local hospital administration(s) and the Radiation Oncology Medical Director in the planning and development of the radiation center’s functions.

Role models proactive, collaborative working relationships across all treatment center functions in an interdisciplinary approach to patient care.

Directs the day-to-day operations of the radiation department, providing direction to staff.

Supervises technical operations and technical staff throughout the treatment centers.

Ensures that proper procedure coding and charge capture procedures are in effect.

Participates in the development and implementation of quality assurance monitors and performance improvement programs to ensure quality patient care.

Delivers a prescribed and planned course of radiation therapy to patients, answers patient questions, and explains procedures. Maintains professional rapport with patients throughout their course of treatment.

Demonstrates ability to tailor care based on unique requirements of patients’ age and developmental needs. Exhibits knowledge of patients’ developmental needs and demonstrates skills necessary to deliver patient care to that population.

Cooperates fully in all risk management activities and investigations.

Provides leadership to the staff, ensuring efficient and effective function and service operation.

Ensures all materials are available for simulation one day before procedures.

Participates in daily Radiation Oncology Center’s functions and meetings.

Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of the latest trends in field of expertise, as well as encouraging and facilitating participation of assigned staff.

Coordinates, supervises, evaluates and participates in educational programs and in-service meetings for radiation therapist staff.

Establishes relationships outside the Radiation Oncology Center for the benefit of the center (i.e. professional associations, volunteer activities, community activities).

Attends meetings as required and participates on committees as needed. Represents the treatment center at conferences and working committees.

Other duties may be assigned or may be modified for alternate work schedule.

REQUIREMENTS:

Education and/or Experience
College degree or radiation therapy school graduate; and/or three years office management experience, five years clinical radiation therapy experience, three years radiation therapy technical supervisory experience. BSRT strongly preferred.

Certification/Registrations
ARRT Registration and state license/fluoroscopy certificate if required by state

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of MS Outlook, MS Excel and MS word and Internet software.

Other Skills
Some business background helpful (i.e. budget preparation, cost containment, medical insurance. Good personal relations and organizational skills.
