A developer and operator of state-of-the-art radiation oncology centers across the US, Vantage Oncology has an opening for an experienced, California licensed, Radiation Therapist covering our treatment center in the Sherman Oaks, CA area.
Position Summary
Provides radiation therapy to patients as prescribed by the physician according to established policies and procedures, standards, and practices.
Position Accountabilities
The following are essential job accountabilities:
1. Demonstrates understanding Vantage Oncology’s mission and vision statement; provides quality service to customers, employees, and visitors in the performance of work assignments and duties. 2. Delivers a prescribed and planned course of radiation therapy to patients; answers patient questions and explains procedures. 3. Checks prescription, diagnosis, chart, patient identification, etc. 4. Interfaces with the physicist, simulation therapist, and mold tech at initiation of treatment; consults with supportive care staff including physicians, nurses, social worker to provide high quality patient care. 5. Prepares room and equipment for patient. Stocks room with linen and supplies, and orders same as needed. 6. Reinforces recommendations given to patients by the physician, nurse, dietitian, etc., concerning reaction to treatment and care of the radiated area, and prevention or treatment of generalized and local side effects. 7. Observes patient for any unusual reactions or events. 8. Demonstrates ability to tailor care based on unique requirements of patients’ age and developmental needs. Exhibits knowledge of patients’ developmental needs and demonstrates skills necessary to deliver patient care to that population. 9. Assists in tumor localization and dosimetry procedures. 10. Checks films for all treated areas and shows these to the physician; changes therapy as ordered. Supervises the check film procedure. 11. Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, professional affiliations, current literature, inservice meetings, and workshops. 12. Attends meetings as required and participates on committees as needed. Represents the center at conferences and working committees. 13. Provide oversight to therapists to ensure all appropriate charges are captured. 14. Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
Job Specifications
Minimum Education Radiation Therapy School graduate
Required Licensure California state Radiation Therapy license
Preferred Education BSRT preferred
Minimum Experience 4+ years employed radiation therapist Demonstrated leadership skills with past successful supervision or management of a Radiation Therapy department or center.
